Lessons From Building an AI Travel Platform
Building an AI travel platform taught me that workflow products live or die on trust.
The AI can help shape a first pass, but the user still needs to feel in control of the result.
Travel is full of nuance. Timing, budget, preferences, and tone matter in ways generic automation will miss.
The strongest lesson was that AI works best when it reduces drafting time and preserves human judgment.
The user does not want AI for its own sake. They want the trip to be easier to build and easier to trust.
That means the product has to respect the fact that travel is partly emotional and partly operational. The software cannot just assemble information. It has to help the user produce something that feels considered and presentable.
The work also reminded me that a great workflow product is really a translation layer. It takes scattered intent and turns it into something structured enough to share, refine, and actually use.
Once the product makes the trip easier to shape without stealing control from the user, the AI becomes an advantage instead of a gimmick.
