How I Think About Product-Market Fit

Product-market fit is one of those phrases people repeat before they know what it means.

To me, fit shows up when the product begins to pull instead of you constantly pushing it. You can feel when the market is leaning in.

That often looks like repeat use, strong word of mouth, fewer explanations, and users asking for the next step before you have to sell them hard.

It is not just growth. It is the sense that the product fits a real shape in the market.

Before fit, everything feels fragile. After fit, the product starts to carry some of its own weight.

That is the line I care about most, because it tells you when the thing is becoming a real business instead of an interesting experiment.

Fit changes the energy of the product. Before fit, every decision feels fragile and every launch feels like an argument. After fit, the product starts to help carry itself because the market is responding with less friction.

I think that is why people obsess over fit: it is the first moment when the product seems to want to live on its own. You can feel the difference between pushing and pulling, and that shift is usually the strongest signal available.
