Build Distribution Before Your Product
If you build a product in silence, you are making it harder to learn.
Distribution before product does not mean faking a launch. It means making sure there is a path to people who might actually care.
That path can be a newsletter, a social presence, a community, a search strategy, or a direct audience built over time.
The point is that the product should not appear from nowhere and hope the world notices.
If you have distribution first, you can test ideas faster and improve with actual feedback instead of guessing in the dark.
Distribution is not extra. It is part of the system.
A lot of founders try to “earn attention later,” but later is usually more expensive. Starting with distribution means you can learn in public and avoid building in total isolation. It also forces you to think about the story earlier, which usually makes the product clearer.
This is not about pretending to have an audience before you have a product. It is about making sure the product has somewhere to go once it is ready. If there is already a way for people to find it, the product can start getting real feedback much sooner.
