Why I Build Instead of Doomscroll

Building is better than doomscrolling because it changes the shape of the day.

Doomscrolling gives you fragments of everyone else’s life and none of your own progress. It feels active while being almost completely passive.

Building produces evidence. Even tiny progress is a real thing you can point to at the end of the day.

That matters because momentum is easier to maintain when you can see it.

I do not build because I am unusually disciplined. I build because it is more interesting than getting pulled around by other people’s feeds.

The internet can either drain your attention or become the place where you make things. I prefer the second option.

It is not that building makes life perfect. It is that building gives the day a shape I can trust. A small amount of real progress changes how the rest of the day feels, and that matters more than the dopamine hit from a feed.

When I build instead of scroll, I finish the day with evidence instead of residue. That is a better trade almost every time.
